David Sikowitz, M.D.

Dr. David Sikowitz

Dr. Sikowitz is a board certified diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the Pennsylvania State University. He subsequently graduated from St. George’s University School of Medicine in 1989 and went on to complete his psychiatric residency at Yale University School of Medicine. During his training, Dr. Sikowitz served as chief resident. He also completed a fellowship in addiction medicine at Yale where he was instrumental in conducting the research used to promote the use of Naltrexone and Buprenorphine to treat both alcohol and opiate addictions.

Dr. Sikowitz has been practicing psychiatry on the Jersey Shore since 1993. He has served as chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey. He has also held the positions of medical director of the inpatient, outpatient and the medical consultation-liaison services. He provided consultation to the psychiatric emergency department as well as the hospital’s ethics and medical addictions committees.

Dr. Sikowitz has been a clinical professor at both Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall University where he enjoyed teaching medical students and supervising psychiatric residents.

Dr. Sikowitz is recognized as an expert in psychopharmacology, addictions and the newly emerging field of neuropsychiatry. He is quite proud of all of his accolades over the years especially being chosen as one of the “Top Docs” in New Jersey in 2019 by New Jersey Monthly magazine and in 2021 by Healthy Living Magazine. During the first visit, he will perform a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and recommend an array of treatment options ranging from traditional pharmacology to the most advanced, cutting edge technology in the field of neuroscience.

Dr. Sikowitz is an original member of the Clinical TMS Society, Inc. The Society includes other TMS providers with extensive clinical and research experience from across the United States and the world. The Society hopes to assist members in optimizing the administration of TMS, develop novel indications for TMS, expand insurance coverage and increase public awareness of TMS therapy.
