David Sikowitz, M.D.
Dr. Sikowitz is a board certified diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the Pennsylvania State University. He subsequently graduated from St. George’s University School of Medicine in 1989 and went on to complete his psychiatric residency at Yale University School of Medicine. During his training, Dr. Sikowitz served as chief resident. He also completed a fellowship in addiction medicine where he was instrumental in conducting the research used to promote the use of buprenorphine to treat opiate addiction.
Dr. Sikowitz has been practicing psychiatry on the Jersey Shore since 1993. He is chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey where he treats patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings and provides consultation to the psychiatric emergency department. He served as medical director of the medical consultation-liaison service and presently sits on the hospital’s medical addictions committee.
Dr. Sikowitz is also a clinical instructor for Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Dentistry of New Jersey, teaching medical students and supervising psychiatric residents.
Dr. Sikowitz is recognized as an expert in psychopharmacology, addictions and the newly emerging field of neuropsychiatry. During the first visit, he will perform a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and recommend an array of treatment options ranging from traditional pharmacotherapy to the most advanced, cutting edge technology in the field of neuroscience.
Dr. Sikowitz is also a member of the Clinical TMS Society, Inc. The Society includes other TMS providers with extensive clinical and research experience from across the United States and the world. The Society hopes to assist members in optimizing the administration of TMS, develop novel indications for TMS therapy, expand insurance coverage, increase public awareness of TMS, and advertise individual TMS clinics.
